Korea is an exotic oriental country with beautiful landscapes wonderful people and modern cities. There are lot of ESL job opportunities in Korea, as this country is developing in a fast pace. For interacting with the rest of the world the knowledge of English is becoming increasingly necessary. This is giving rise to the demand of second language English teachers in countries like Korea. South Korea recruits teachers all throughout the year and the main demand of teachers are in the first few months of the year and during August and September. It has one of the highest paying ESL job market in the world.
The teachers in Korea are given placement in schools where they will have to take at least 24 classes per week. The schools are closed on weekends and on national holidays of South Korea. For getting an ESL job in Korea the teachers will have to fulfill certain criteria. They have to have a degree, will have to be a native speaker and also have an accredited TEFL certificate. The teaching contracts in Korea are for one year at least, which can be later extended on mutual consent. The schools pay extra in case the teachers have to take some extra classes or have to stay extra hours. Special classes or English day camps usually take place during the vacations.
The duty of the ESL teachers is not just to take classes but they will also have to make lesson plans like their Korean counterparts. The teachers have to do some English workshops for the kids during the vacations. It is the duty of teachers to abide by all the rules and regulations and at the same time make sure the discipline of the schools is maintained. A proper dress code has to be maintained by the teachers.
The teachers are given free accommodation by the schools. As most of the ESL job opportunities in Korea centers around the cities the accommodations are mostly on the high rises of the city with an incredible view. The apartments have all sorts of modern facilities and amenities here. The teachers with families are given bigger apartments than the single teachers. The accommodations are mostly near the schools so that the teachers do not have to bare any traveling cost.
